Klimabonus 2026: everything that changes for households

By KlimaGrid Editorial · January 15, 2026 · 5 min read

The 2026 Klimabonus marks a major milestone for Luxembourg households looking to invest in solar energy. The most notable reform is the introduction of pre-financing, which radically changes the experience for homeowners.

Pre-financing in practice

Until now, you had to pay the full cost of the installation upfront and then wait several months for the grant to be reimbursed. Now, the registered installer can deduct the Klimabonus directly from the invoice. You only pay the remaining balance.

Clarified amounts

For a self-consumption photovoltaic installation up to 15 kWp, the grant can reach €10,000. A €2,250 battery premium is added, and VAT remains reduced to 3%.

What this means for you

In practice, the out-of-pocket cost of a typical residential installation often drops below €2,000. Combined with the Klimaprêt, the investment becomes accessible without a large down payment.
